<description><![CDATA[<img src="http://humistonfuneralhome.com/components/comObituaries/obituarythumbnails/52_115542.jpg" alt="Anne M. Estroff" />Anne M. Estroff passed away peacefully on February 19, 2012 at the age of 61 in her Kerhonkson, NY home, after courageously battling breast cancer for 12 long years.

Anne, daughter of the late Josephine and Albert Meyer, born in Callicoon, NY, grew up in Mileses, NY, and moved to Kerhonkson in 1968. She graduated from Ulster County Community College, began her career as a legal secretary (holding that position for 41 years), and married Dave of Kingston, NY in 1971. Over the years she was Chairperson of the Town of Rochester Planning Board and an active member of the Friends of Historic Rochester and was instrumental in fostering membership growth and securing the community Museum/Library.

She loved spending time with family and friends, vacationing in Florida, caring for her flowers, cruising with Dave in their ’66 GTO, reading, and baking sweets for her kids.

She is survived by her loving husband, Dave Estroff, her 2 children, Sharon (husband Stefan) of Wawarsing, NY and Andy (wife Amy) of Yardley, PA, her 2 grandchildren, Caleb (son of Sharon and Stefan) and Colin (son of Andy and Amy), and her 4 siblings, Carl of Bethel, NY, Rita (husband Jeremiah) of Damascus, PA, Marilyn (husband Bob) of Bloomingburg, NY, and Claire (husband Frank) of Melville, NY. 

All who were touched by Anne are invited to share in the celebration of her life on Wednesday, February 22nd from 2-4 and 7-9pm at the H.B. Humiston Funeral Home, 30 Forty Second St., Kerhonkson, NY 12446. The Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday at 10am at Our Lady Of Lourdes Church, Route 209, Kerhonkson, NY. Interment will follow in the Whitfield Cemetery, Accord, NY.

<description><![CDATA[<img src="http://humistonfuneralhome.com/components/comObituaries/obituarythumbnails/52_113928.jpg" alt="Wasyl Szysz" />Wasyl Szysz of Kerhonkson, NY died Saturday, January 28, 2012. He was 90. Wasyl was born on March 21, 1921 in Lesiatychi, Ukraine, the son of Nicholas and Ann (Tyzbir) Szysz. 
  
Wasyl had lived in Kerhonkson for over twenty years. He came to America in 1950 and lived in New Jersey where he owned and operated his window cleaning and floor waxing business in Garfield. Wasyl was a member of Holy Trinity Ukrainian Catholic Church in Kerhonkson, the Ukrainian Congress Committee of America, the Organization for Defense of Four Freedoms for Ukraine and SUM.

Wasyl is survived by his wife Olga, his daughter, Mary Panchyshyn of Kerhonkson, and his son-in-law, Adam Platosz of New Britain, CT. His grandchildren; Eva Panchyshyn, Larysa Lutin and her husband Jeremy, Natalie Ruggiero and her husband Jesse, Nicholas Panchyshyn, Michael Platosz and Christine Platosz, and his great-granddaughter, Catarina Lutin. Wasyl was pre-deceased by his daughter, Ann Platosz and his brother and sisters; Myhalo, Rose and Anastasia.
  
Visiting hours will be Monday, January 30th from 5-7pm at HB Humiston Funeral Home, Kerhonkson. The Panakhyda will begin at 6pm that evening. The Holy Sacrifice of the Divine Liturgy will be Tuesday, January 31st 10am at Holy Trinity Ukrainian Catholic Church, Kerhonkson. Burial will follow at Holy Spirit Ukrainian Catholic Cemetery, Hamptonburgh.

<title>Ralph Ellis Swenson [02/23/1923 - 01/26/2012] </title>

<description><![CDATA[<img src="http://humistonfuneralhome.com/components/comObituaries/obituarythumbnails/52_113838.jpg" alt="Ralph Ellis Swenson" />Ralph Ellis Swenson of Accord, NY, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, January 26, 2012. He was 88 years old. Born on February 23, 1923 in Brooklyn, NY; he was the son of Carl Ellis and Elsa (Jörgren) Swenson.
Mr. Swenson was a decorated WWII Veteran of the United States Army with the 346th Infantry. He was honorably discharged in 1945 and later awarded the Bronze Star Medal for heroic and meritorious service.  He was a life member of the Joseph Hassett VFW Post 686 in High Falls, a member of the Mendelssohn Club in Kingston and of NOFA-NY. Ralph was a faithful parishioner of the Kripplebush United Methodist Church.
Ralph graduated from Rutgers University and became a 4-H Agent in Orleans County, NY. On September 6, 1947, Ralph married the former Mary Watson in Bergenfield, NJ. He furthered his education at Cornell where he graduated with a Master of Science Degree. Following graduation Ralph taught Vocational Agriculture in Jordan, NY until 1956 where he went on to teach at Floral Park High School in Long Island before settling with his family in Accord in 1958. 
Ralph worked at the Rondout Valley High School teaching General Science, Geology, Biology, Earth Science and Algebra until his retirement in 1981. During every aspect of his career Ralph felt it was important to bring his students on field trips whether it was for school or pleasure. Ralph had an extremely positive influence on his students and has remained in contact with many of them after retiring.
In addition to his wife Mary at home, Ralph is survived by his children; Mary May Schmidt and her husband Gary of Monticello, Kathleen V. Swenson of Pompano Beach, FL and Ralph Eric Swenson and his wife Rebecca of Accord, his grandchildren Daniel Glenn Schmidt and his wife Lili and Christopher Gregory Schmidt and his wife Lisa, great-grandchildren Megan and Wyatt and his sister-in-law Susemarie Swenson of Whitefield, NH.
Ralph was predeceased by his brother Roy A. Swenson.
Visiting will be held on Sunday, January 29th from 6-8 PM at H .B. Humiston Funeral Home, 30 42nd St. Kerhonkson. A Celebration of his life is scheduled for Monday, 10:30 am at the Kripplebush United Methodist Church. Burial will follow at Accord Rural Cemetery with military honors.

<description><![CDATA[<img src="http://humistonfuneralhome.com/components/comObituaries/obituarythumbnails/52_112925.jpg" alt="Vena M. Lawrence Quick" />Vena M. Lawrence Quick, 85, of Kingston, NY, and formerly Kerhonkson, passed away on Friday, January 20, 2012 at the Golden Hill Health Care Center. She was the daughter of Edna and Obie Dick.
Born and raised in Kentucky Vena was well known for her wonderful sense of humor, her amazing green thumb, and her love of crocheting – which left so many warmed by her hat, scarf, afghan and baby blanket creations.  Vena was an avid country music fan who adored Willie Nelson.  She also enjoyed traveling and got great pleasure from having visited more than half of the US.  She will be fondly remembered and deeply missed.  
She is survived by her children; Sara Alexander and her husband Jesse, James Franklin, Edward Lawrence and his wife Sheila, Vera Lawrence and her husband Henry Schwandt, Raymond Lawrence and his wife Rosie, Stacia Lawrence and her husband Tracey Taylor, and Max Pynacker. Also surviving are 14 grandchildren, 17 great- grandchildren and 8 great-great grandchildren and her son-in-law Douglas Coddington.
Vena was predeceased by her daughter Ida Coddington on May 20, 1988.
Visiting will be held on Tuesday, January 24th from 9:30 – 11am at H.B. Humiston Funeral Home, 30 42nd St. Kerhonkson. A Celebration of her life will begin at 11 am at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Pine Bush Cemetery.

<description><![CDATA[<img src="http://humistonfuneralhome.com/components/comObituaries/obituarythumbnails/52_111973.jpg" alt="Yuriy Leshchuk" />Yuriy Leshchuk of Kerhonkson, NY, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, January 2, 2012 at his home. He was 26 years old. Born on April 15, 1985 in Ukraine; the son of Yevheniya Khomanchuk and the late Vladymir Leshchuk.

Yuriy came to the United States in 2000. He graduated from Rondout Valley High School and from Ulster County Community College.  He furthered his education at SUNY New Paltz graduating with high honors in 2010 with a Bachelor of Arts. While attending college Yuriy assisted in the production of the documentary, The Battle of Stalingrad which aired on PBS. His passion in life was to pursue a career in Video Productions. 

Yuriy had a thirst for knowledge. He was an accomplished pianist and was fluent in 5 languages. He liked to play soccer and appreciated nature and all living creatures. He enjoyed communicating with his many colleagues and friends that he made on Facebook both locally and internationally. 

In addition to his mother of Kerhonkson, Yuriy is survived by his brother Roman and his family along with many extended family members in Ukraine.

A memorial service is scheduled for Sunday, January 8th at Soyuzivka, on Foordmore Rd. in Kerhonkson.

Kubin of Whiting, NJ, passed away on Wednesday, December 21, 2011 at the Oakland Care Center in NJ. Gerald was born on September 25, 1929 in Queens, NY, where he grew up and relocated to Kerhonkson, NY with his wife Alice. Together, they and their dear friends, Nick and Elaine Oprysko owned and operated the Casino Restaurant in Kerhonkson for over 14 years. Following the sale of the business Gerald and Alice moved to New Jersey. 

Gerald was a Veteran of the United States Army, a member of the Ukrainian Catholic War Veterans, the VFW and St. Stephen Ukrainian Catholic Church. 

He was predeceased by his wife Alice in 2009 and is survived by his sister Gloria Saluk of PA, and several nieces and nephews.

Visiting will be held on Monday, December 26th from 5-7pm at H.B. Humiston Funeral Home, 30 42nd St., Kerhonkson. Panakhyda will begin at 6pm on Monday. The Holy Sacrifice of the Divine Liturgy will be celebrated on Tuesday, December 27th at 10am at Holy Trinity Ukrainian Catholic Church, Kerhonkson. Burial will follow at Holy Spirit Cemetery, Hamptonburgh, NY.

He was born January 2, 1949 in San Piero Patti, Sicily, the son of Eduardo and Maria (Franco) LoPresti.

Mr. LoPresti married his loving wife, Kathleen Golia, in March 1972 and together had lived in the area for over 40 years. Kathleen had passed away June 2004.

Paul is survived by his mother, Maria, his children Anna Koch and her husband Eric of Cottekill and his son Edward LoPresti of Kerhonkson. His grandchildren Ethan and Gianna Koch, and his brothers Sandro and Salvatore LoPresti.

Funeral Services will be held Saturday, December 10, 2011, 10am at H.B. Humiston Funeral Home, Kerhonkson. Friends and family are welcome to gather at 9:30am. An interment will follow at Whitfield Cemetery, Accord.
