George DePuy

George E. DePuy, 84, of Kerhonkson, NY passed away on Thursday, August 5, 2021 after a long illness. He was born on June 6, 1937 in Accord, NY. He was the son of the late Elton and Ethel (Greene) DePuy.

On November 7, 1965 George married Hazel Roberts, they spent many precious years together before she passed away in 1992. George was a lifelong Dairy Farmer. After running the family dairy farm for over 40 years he went to work for Eastern Correctional Facility, where he first ran their beef operation and then was Head Farmer for the dairy farm until his retirement in 2002.

George fully enjoyed retirement. He loved grabbing breakfast at the diner with friends and just spending time visiting family and friends reminiscing about the old days on the farm. He was always in a good mood with a smile that would light up the room.

He is survived by his children, Royal Addis and his wife Cheryl of Modesto, CA, Karen Baker and her husband Kim of Fountain Hills, AZ, and Linda DePuy of Kingston. His grandchildren, Royal C. (Linda), Brian, Mark (Haley), Kyle and Holly Addis. His great grandchildren, Wilder and Payton Addis; and many nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents and his wife Hazel, George was predeceased by his siblings, Raymond DePuy, Lillian Schrieber, Frances Schrieber, Edward DePuy, Betty Bielenda and Robert DePuy.

Visiting hours will be held on Monday, August 9, 2021 from 10am - 12pm at Humiston Funeral Home, Kerhonkson. A celebration of his life will follow at 12pm. Burial will be in Whitfield Cemetery, Accord

George was a gentleman and good friend. Sunday morning breakfast was our weekly get together with a church Saturday dinner whenever possible. We spent many hours discussing times n troubles but he always had a great attitude. He will be missed by his family and friends.

George was a dear friend of my father Ken, who passed in 2012. They spent hours together in Accord as friends, helping each other with building projects, snowmobile trailing, farming, parchese, monopoly and trivial pursuit, and good food and company. His wife Hazel, was a favorite friend of my mother. Annette. My memories with Hazel and George and their 3 children will forever be etched in my memory as some of my most fun loving days during my life. I love my memories of their farm, swimming, horses, visits to the car races, Maine, wooded trails and Hazel's delicious cooking. I remember my dad loving the milk from his farm and sipping off the cream from the top. I will always be grateful to this family for how they have added to my life in the most significant ways. Rest in peaceful sleep. My deepest sympathies to Royal, Karen and Linda.
