Betty Flint Davenport of High Falls, NY passed away peacefully on May 5, 2025, with family present. Betty was born in Mt. Vernon, NY on September 19,1932 to Alice Ward Case Flint and Floyd W. Flint. The family moved to Kingston in 1946 where she graduated from Kingston High School in 1950 and St. Lawrence University in 1954. Betty married her high school sweetheart M. Richard (Dick) Davenport on June 19, 1954, at the Fair Street Reformed Church in Kingston, NY. They settled in High Falls, NY in 1957 following their return from Dick’s military service in Straubling, West Germany.
Betty was always active in the community while raising their four children. She was a member of the Marbletown Reformed Church where she served as a consistory member for many years. She was proud of her contributions to the Rondout Valley Central School District as a Board member and served many years as President of the Ulster County Women’s Golf Association, frequently using the family’s dining room table as headquarters for many countywide women’s golf tournaments. Betty and Dick and their family especially enjoyed playing golf at both Wiltwyck and Stone Dock, skiing at Highmount, and multi-generational trips to Ocean City, N.J.
Betty leaves behind four children; Jim (Nancy) Davenport, Sue (Steve) Powers, Betsy (Nick) Rama, and David (Sherran) Davenport; her grandchildren Kathryn D. Collingbourne (Geoff), James (Jay) Flint Davenport Jr. Willis Davenport (Megan), Jennifer Powers (Will Archino), Jim Powers (Karli), Steven J. Powers Jr. (Samantha), Jessica Powers, Tedd Rama (Emily), Emily Rama, Kasey Richards Harrison (Ryan) and Lauren Davenport; ten great grandchildren living in Averill Park NY, Miller Place NY, Middletown NY, Hendersonville TN and Charlotte NC as well as many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Dick in 2024; her parents; her sister Grace Giovanelli and husband Frank Giovanelli; her brother-in-law Ronald Tedd Davenport; her sister-in-law Patricia Davenport Hall and husband John P. Hall Sr.; and her nephews Harry Davenport Hall and Richard Scott Hall.
A memorial service will take place on Saturday June 14, 2025 at the Marbletown Reformed Church, 3750 Main St. Stone Ridge, NY 12484. Visitation will begin at 1 pm with the service at 2 pm. Interment will follow at the Benton Bar Cemetery 2591 Lucas Tpk. High Falls, NY 12440. All are welcome at the Church and interment.
Humiston-Loucks Funeral Home in Kerhonkson is assisting the family with arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Marbletown Reformed Church, 3750 Main St. Stone Ridge, NY 12484 or Hudson Valley Hospice 374 Violet Avenue Poughkeepsie, NY 12601.
