Catherine C. Metrick-Hart

Catherine Cecelia Metrick-Hart of Accord, NY passed away on Thursday October 19, 2023, at the age of 84. Cathy was born on June 6, 1939, in Manhattan, to John C. and Alice (Forsyth) Martin.

 

A beloved member of her community.  Cathy dedicated her life to caring for others as a Certified Nursing Assistant at Golden Hill Nursing and Rehab for an impressive 30 years.  Her compassion and nurturing spirit were evident not only in her profession but also in her personal life.  Her Family is blessed and will always cherish the memories of her special love, caring and devotion as a Mother, Grandmother, and Great Grandmother.  Cathy also had a special love for animals, particularly cats, never turning away a stray cat and provided them with a warm and loving home. She was their cat "Mom", and referred to them as "her babies".

 

Cathy was preceded in death by her parents John and Alice, her loving husband Kenneth A. Metrick, her second husband George Hart, and most loving and devoted companion and fiancé Leonard Pumilia, with whom they spent the last 20 years of their lives together.

 

She is survived by her daughters Catherine McKelvey and her fiancé Joseph Giordano, Linda Wells and her husband Steve.  Her grandchildren Jeffery McKelvey, Jr. and his wife Amanda, Catherine Allison "Calli" Buffone and her husband Sean, and Lyndsey Wells; as well as her great grandchildren Riley Wells, Hannah McKelvey, Abigail McKelvey and Noah Buffone.

 

Additionally, Catherine leaves behind her sisters Gloria, Lucy, Rosemary and Patricia; and many nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by her siblings John, Frank, Jimmy, twin brother Eddie, Joseph, Theresa, and Julia.

 

Cathy will be dearly missed by all who knew her for her joyful presence in their lives.  Her legacy of compassion, dedication, and love will continue to inspire us all.

 

Funeral services for Catherine are being held privately and at the discretion of her family.
