Daniel “Dan The Man” Brian Shabanowitz of Kerhonkson, NY was 67 years old when he passed away September 23, 2026. He was born to Stephen and June Shabanowitz on September 18, 1959. Dan was born and raised in Kerhonkson, NY. He graduated from Rondout Valley High School and SUNY Ulster.

He married Jackie Marie Winder on April 16, 2000. Dan was a high-spirited, funny, outgoing man who made friends everywhere he went. Dan took pride in being a caring father and husband. His hobbies included cooking, planting flowers, fishing, hunting, and going out to eat. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. For the majority of his life, he worked in construction helping to build local bridges and buildings. In his retirement years, he spent the days working around the house and hanging out with friends who came to visit him.

If you see a large buck with lots of antlers, think of Dan. His legacy lives on by his loving wife, Jackie Shabanowitz; daughter, Sarah Shabanowitz; son, Stephen Shabanowitz; and his yellow lab, Biscuit. He was predeceased by his parents, June and Stephen Shabanowitz. Donations are welcome to Tunnel to Towers Foundation.
