Dennis Joseph McLoughlin
December 16, 1950 — June 22, 2026
Stone Ridge, New York
It is with deep love and gratitude that we celebrate the life of Dennis Joseph McLoughlin, who went home peacefully to be with his Lord on June 22, 2026, at the age of 75.
Born on December 16, 1950, in the Bronx, New York, Dennis was the son of Kevin and Catherine Ryan McLoughlin.
Dennis' greatest devotion was his unwavering love for his beloved wife, Joan, who preceded him in death. He cared for her tenderly, faithfully standing by her side through every stage of their journey together for more than 40 years.
Those who knew Dennis will remember him as a private man who worked hard, loved a good conversation, and remained steadfast in his convictions while showing genuine compassion toward others. He retired at the age of 70 after a career in law enforcement, serving as a security officer.
Though our hearts are heavy, we take comfort in knowing that Dennis is resting in the presence of his Savior, Jesus Christ, who promised eternal life:
"Truly, truly, I say to you, the one who hears My word and believes Him who sent Me has eternal life and does not come into judgment, but has passed out of death into life." (John 5:24)
Dennis is survived by those who lovingly called him "Grandpa Dennis": his late wife's son, Frank Romanek Jr.; her daughter, Joanne Louise Krom; and their children: Amanda Elizabeth Knight, Danielle Elizabeth Harris, Candice Lee Metzger, Malachi Romanek, Brandon Michael Andrew Krom, Daniel Gabriel Edwin Krom, Aaron Romanek, and Amber Grace Romanek. The great-grandchildren, Evangeline ("Evie") Alice Knight and Anna Elizabeth Harris.
He is also survived by his brother, Neil McLoughlin and his wife, Kathy, and their children: Kelly Sorrentino and her husband, Russell; Neil McLoughlin Jr.; and Tara Ann McLoughlin.
Dennis was preceded in death by his oldest brother, Kevin McLoughlin, and is lovingly remembered by Kevin's wife, Mary Ann, and their children: Mary Beth Woods and her husband, Tom; Cathy Sue Robin and her husband, Ken; and John McLoughlin and his wife, Melissa. He was also preceded in death by his nephew, Kevin McLoughlin Jr.
In addition, countless friends and loved ones will cherish the generosity, laughter, friendship, and conversations Dennis shared throughout his life.
A graveside service honoring Dennis' life will be held at Greenfield Cemetery, 650 Nassau Road, Uniondale, New York. Family and friends are invited to gather, share memories, and celebrate his life. The date and time will be announced.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Dennis' memory to Chapel on Main, P.O. Box 3, Kerhonkson, NY 12446. All donations will support the chapel's international ministries, which provide care for those living in poverty.
