Diana Amber Traver-Romanek

June 9, 1967 — October 15, 2023

Diana Amber Traver-Romanek, went home to be with her Lord on October 15th, 2023, at Vassar Hospital. She was born on June 9th, 1967, in Kingston, New York, to Donald and Margaret “Peg” (Markle) Traver. Diana’s life may have been shortened, but her impact touched hundreds of lives and will be remembered for eternity. Her life was filled with love, dedication, resilience, and most importantly an everlasting faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.

She achieved many accomplishments and from her early years to her final moments, Diana embraced life with unwavering strength. Her educational journey began at Rondout Valley High School where she graduated 12th grade early and began working at a local bank. Diana's hard work was acknowledged with success, before deciding to marry and pursue her most treasured role as a wife, mother and homemaker which was of utmost importance to her. She successfully homeschooled all four of her children while maintaining a home, a vibrant church youth program, music ministry and adult groups. Her children were her life and there are no words that can express the joy they brought her. She loved being at home as she gardened, crafted, baked, and stayed connected by sharing funny social media videos. Her best friend Dorothy Dunham of Accord, NY texted with her every day. Diana loved her parents deeply.

Beyond her everyday pursuits, Diana had a great skill and passion for playing the piano. Her grace and beauty were heard through the gift she shared with others and she found solace and joy playing privately in her home. The connection she shared as she played brought her happiness and contentment throughout her life.

She shared many cherished memories with her loved ones that will forever be treasured. Diana was preceded in death by her grandparents John and Jennie Traver; Elting and Lena Markle; and her nephew Eddie Traver. She is survived by her husband Frank Romanek Jr, married 34 years; daughter Danielle Elizabeth Harris and husband Jon of Highland, NY; son Malachi Romanek of Nashville, TN; son Aaron Romanek and wife Starsea of Kerhonkson, NY; daughter Amber Grace Romanek of Kerhonkson, NY; her brother David Corso of Lakeland, FL and adult children Paige Marie, Donald James and Dylan; sister Catherine Brooks and Husband Wayne of Accord, NY and adult sons Philip and Lucas; her sister Dawn Traver and daughter Alicia Jen of Kerhonkson, NY; In-laws Dennis and Joan Mcloughlin of Stone Ridge, NY; sister-in-law Joanne Krom and her adult children Amanda (and Evie), Candice, Brandon and Daniel; and many local cousins. Plus all the animals cared of at her home; especially her beloved companions, Gracie and Harley.

Her sense of humor was one of her trademarks, along with her sense of righteousness. In one of her favorite scriptures, Diana noted a portion of Psalm 138 “…The LORD will work out his plans for my life—for your faithful love, O LORD, endures forever.” These words serve as a beautiful testament to the confident and powerful promise given to Diana as she embarked upon her life after leaving this earth. May we find solace in knowing that she is now in her eternal home, a magnificent place of peace, being pain free and full of joy with former family members and meeting new brothers and sisters in Christ.

Diana’s beautiful life will be honored on Saturday, October 28th, 2023, beginning with a closed casket viewing from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Evangelical Fellowship Church at 420 Scarawan Road in Stone Ridge, NY.
