Dmytro Dosiak of Kerhonkson, NY, passed away on Thursday, February 19, 2015 at Orange Regional Medical Center. He was 91 years old. Dmytro was born on November 7, 1923 in Rodatychi, Ukraine; he was the son of the late Petro and Anastasia (Basarab) Dosiak.
Dmytro moved to New York in 1951 and lived in Ridgewood, Queens. He had worked in the maintenance dept. for the United Nations Building in Manhattan from 1952 through 1979, and then moved to Kerhonkson and later retired from VAW in Ellenville. He was a member of Holy Trinity Ukrainian Catholic Church and the Ukrainian Laymen Brotherhood of St. Volodymyr. Dmytro was also a skilled upholsterer and carpet layer.
Mr. Dosiak is survived by his wife Ella whom he married on October 8, 1949 in Arolsen, Germany; also surviving are his grandsons, Robert Dosiak and his wife Dawn Morvillo of Stone Ridge, Edward McMahon and his wife Dana of East Rockaway, NY; granddaughter, Danielle Sweetman also of East Rockaway, NY; eight great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law Kathleen Dosiak of East Rockaway, NY; sister, Stefa Lesko of Ukraine and several nieces and nephews.
Dmytro was predeceased by his son Nicholas Dosiak in 2005.
Visiting will be held on Monday February 23, 2015 from 2-4 & 6-8pm. The Panakhyda will begin at 7pm at HB Humiston Funeral Home, 30 42nd St., Kerhonkson. The Divine Liturgy will be celebrated on Tuesday the 24th at 10am at Holy Trinity Ukrainian Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Pine Bush Cemetery.
