Dorothy F. Padin
Dorothy F. Padin of Kerhonkson, NY, died unexpectedly Friday, April 10, 2020. She was 59 years old. Dorothy was born on August 31, 1960 in Catskill, NY and the daughter of the late Charles and Dorothy (MacConnie) Harring. Survivors include her sister Mary Robie and brother John Harring.
Dorothy was a loving wife to her husband Israel Padin for over 30 years and a wonderful mother to her daughter, Courtney. She always had a smile on her face and loved spending time with her dog. She also loved to cook and was never afraid to try new recipes (which all came out great). Some of her other interests were listening to oldies music, the occasional grocery trip to Walmart, sharing meals with her family at the local diner, and watching game shows. She loved being out on the deck of her house to watch the birds, deer, rabbits, and other wildlife as they visited the backyard.
In addition to Dorothy’s wonderful personal life, she was a valued member of the SUNY New Paltz community for nearly 35 years. She started her career in 1984 working in the Computer Center. She then moved on to work in the Office of Student Accounts where she spent the next 33 years until she retired in December of 2018. During her time in Student Accounts, Dorothy worked primarily with the College’s military-affiliated students. She took great pride in helping them. She was often heard telling people how much she “loved her veterans”. And, they surely loved her in return. Dorothy was more than just a colleague, she was a friend and was truly loved by all.

I was saddened to hear of this news. I was a colleague of Dot's when I worked at SUNY New Paltz several years ago, and always enjoyed interacting with her.
