Eleanor Kelder Wanke

Eleanor Kelder Wanke, 98, of Accord, NY, died peacefully at the Golden Hill Health Care Center with family by her side on Saturday, June 2, 2011. Born on December 23, 1912 in Briarcliff Manor; she was the daughter of Lillian (Hess) and Floyd Kelder.
Mrs. Wanke was employed by a large Manhatten Advertising Agency, LENNEN & NEWELL Inc. for many years as a private secretary to the administration, over seeing all aspects of financial and business matters. She was a Member and Treasurer of the Ladies Social Club of the Atwood Community Center, a member of Christ the King Episcopal Church in Stone Ridge and the Episcopal Women. She was active in Stone Ridge Senior Citizens Organization and acted as Treasurer of several other community organizations. Eleanor was an avid participant in craft groups such as hooking, rug braiding, needle point and quilting.
She is survived by her second cousins Wayne Kelder and his wife Elizabeth of Accord, Janis Hagen and her husband Lars of Monita, Va., Jean Nerone and her husband Jim of Bluffton, SC, Enid Kelder Crnkovic and her husband Jim of Stone Ridge, Sandra Roosa and her husband Ronald of Accord, Edward Kelder and his wife Martha of Accord, and their families, also, a very close friend, Nancy VanDemark of Accord and many other friends.
Eleanor was predeceased by her husband Edmund A. Wanke in 1980 and her sister Alice K. Hamilton.
A celebration of her life will be held on Wednesday, July 6th at 11AM at H.B. Humiston Funeral Home, 30 42nd St. Kerhonkson. Burial will follow at Whitfield Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in Eleanor's name to Christ the King Episcopal Church, 3021 State Route 213 East, Stone Ridge, NY 12484.
