Elizabeth Jean
Smith-Milewski
May 7, 1963 – March 25, 2026
Elizabeth Jean Smith Milewski, 62, passed away on March 25, 2026, after a courageous battle with cancer.
She was born on May 7, 1963, in Cragsmoor, New York. Arriving at home and eager to enter the world, her parents, Raymond and Joyce Smith, knew from the very beginning that she was going to be someone special and she truly was to everyone who knew and loved her.
Elizabeth was a graduate of the Ellenville Central School District and went on to earn a degree in Criminal Justice from SUNY Orange. She retired this year after 20 dedicated years with Questar III BOCES. Throughout her career, she has touched the lives of countless students and colleagues, and she will be remembered for the care, kindness, and positive influence she brought to all fortunate enough to know her.
Elizabeth enjoyed a good cold IPA, cheering on the Dallas Cowboys, and making memories on Disney trips. She had an infectious smile, a deep love for life, and a way of bringing joy wherever she went.
Above all else, Elizabeth’s greatest joy was being a mother and Babcia to her beloved grandchildren, Emersyn and Cooper. They were the light of her life.
Elizabeth was predeceased by her father, Raymond Smith, who is surely thrilled to once again have his partner in crime by his side for all the shenanigans they are already causing together.
She is survived by her loving sons, Travis (Brittany) Milewski and Zachary Milewski; her cherished grandchildren, Emersyn and Cooper Milewski; her mother, Joyce A. Smith; her sister, Terri (Bob) Ray; her niece, Heather (Joe) Ray; her nephew, Christopher (Nicole) Ray, Sr.; her great-niece, Olivia Ray; her great-nephew, Christopher Ray, Jr.; her uncle and aunt, Bruce (Ann) Bowler; her cousins, Erin Dwyer and Michelle Dooley; and her faithful fury sidekick, Bocepheus.
To honor Elizabeth’s wishes, there will be no funeral services. Family and friends are encouraged to celebrate her life in their own special way. Raise a cold beer, cheer on the Cowboys, enjoy a Disney adventure, or simply share a story and a laugh in her memory. Elizabeth’s spirit will live on in the hearts of all who loved her.
Humiston Funeral Home is honored to handle the arrangements and extends heartfelt condolences to Elizabeth’s family and all who loved her.
May the love she shared and the memories you hold close bring you comfort in the days ahead, and may her legacy continue to shine through everyone whose life she touched.
