Harold R. Pomeroy

Harold R. Pomeroy, age 82, passed away peacefully surrounded by family.

Born to the late Ransford and Virginia Pomeroy, Harold was a proud and devoted man who lived a life marked by service, dedication, and deep love for his family.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Linda Lee Pomeroy, and his sister, Linda Nell Pomeroy. Harold was a devoted father to Jeffrey Pomeroy (Tammy) and Teresa Johnson (Mitchel), a proud grandfather to Jacqueline Pomeroy, Joseph Pomeroy (Keara), and Jacob Pomeroy (Sierra), and a loving great-grandfather to Hadley Rose Pomeroy and Harlow Sage Pomeroy.

Harold honorably served in the United States Navy from 1962 to 1966, a period of his life of which he was immensely proud. His commitment to service continued through his active membership in both American Legion Post 32 (Walton, NY) and American Legion Post 69 (Avon Park, FL), as well as the Moose Club, where he found lasting friendships and camaraderie.

After his military service, Harold worked for the U.S. Postal Service as a rural postal carrier, faithfully serving for 30 years. Known for going above and beyond, he took special care of the people on his route—especially the elderly—ensuring they were not only delivered mail but also treated with kindness, respect, and watchful care.

An avid hunter and fisherman, Harold loved spending time outdoors, but above all else, he cherished time with his family. His humor, warmth, and steadfast presence will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

A life of quiet strength, humble service, and unconditional love—Harold's legacy lives on in the generations he nurtured and the lives he touched.

A graveside service will be held to honor and celebrate the life of Harold on Monday, August 18, 2025 at 12:00 PM, at Pine Bush Cemetery, 6075 US-209, Kerhonkson, NY. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Harold’s memory to:
