Harry B. Keator “Pete” of Kerhonkson entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, April 10, 2013 at home surrounded by his loving family. Pete was born on November 12, 1933 the son of the late Harry E. and Florence D. (Barringer) Keator.

 

He served in the U.S. Army in Korea in 1954. He was a member of the Samsonville United Methodist Church. Along with being an especially talented auto mechanic, he was a great race car driver, hunter, fisherman, and most importantly a wonderful and true friend to many. After owning and operating the Arcadia Mobil Station, he worked for many years through many owners at the Ford Garage in Kerhonkson, later at the Foordmore Dairy and then retired from the Town of Rochester Highway Department.

 

He was predeceased by his loving wife of 53 years Inez Rothberg Keator. He is survived by his daughter Mary and son-in-law Jerry VanSteenburg, and his loving partner Evelyn Yerkes and her sons Renaldo, John, Jerry, Shawn and daughter Ronnett. Also surviving are his Aunt Betty Rose of Belleview, FL, several nieces, nephews, cousins and his beloved pets Jake, Sam, Boogie and Gracie.

 

Visiting hours will be held Friday, April 12th from 5-8pm at H.B. Humiston Funeral Home, 30 42nd St., Kerhonkson. A service will be Saturday the 13th at 10:30am at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Pine Bush Cemetery, Kerhonkson.

 

In lieu of flowers the family respectfully requests that donations be made to the Samsonville United Methodist Church or your favorite animal shelter.
