John J. McCauley of Samsonville

June 24, 1941 – July 4, 2017

 

John J. McCauley passed away peacefully on July 4, 2017 at his home in Samsonville, N.Y.  He was born on June 24, 1941, to the late Francis and Eva McCauley.

 

John was a lifelong area resident. He built his house in Samsonville. He was a retired Operating Engineer, Local 825.

 

John was a hard working man who loved the outdoors. He spent most of his time doing chores on his farm. He loved animals, and raised many different kinds of livestock. He enjoyed gardening. He was an avid hunter.

 

John was predeceased by his beloved wife, Betty Lou (Brown) McCauley.

 

He is survived by his son, Gregory McCauley of Samsonville, and his daughter, Claudia McCauley Baker and her husband Rudie Baker of Shokan, N.Y.  Also survived by his brothers, Lawrence McCauley of Brigantine,  N.J.,  Neil McCauley of Kerhonkson, N.Y., and William McCauley of Huntsville, Alabama.  Also survived by sister-in laws, many cousins, nieces, nephews and dear friends.

 

Friends will be received on Wednesday, July 12th, from 5:00 -8:00 PM at H.B. Humiston Funeral Home, 30 Forty Second Street, Kerhonkson, N.Y.

 

Burial will be at 11:00 AM Thursday July 13th at Krumville Cemetery.
