Lois K. Varrone

Lois Colbath Varrone, of Brooklyn and formerly of Accord, NY, passed away on July 10, 2018 at the age of 92. Lois was born on March 6, 1926 the daughter of the late Lee and Helen (Kunath) Colbath.

She was born in Howland, Maine and moved to Brooklyn, NY when she married Alfred Varrone in January 1945. Lois and Al met when he was stationed in Presque Isle, Maine during World War II, and she was working as a telephone operator on the base. Later, Al and Lois bought property in Accord, NY in 1970 and over the next 10 years built their retirement home on weekends with the help of family and friends. They then moved to Accord permanently in 1980. Al passed away in 1994 and Lois remained in Accord until 2008, when she moved back to Brooklyn to live with her daughter. While in Accord, Lois was a communicant of Our Lady of Lourdes Church and a member of the Accord/Kerhonkson Golden Age Senior Citizens where she served as Trips Coordinator.

Lois is survived by her children; Alfred Varrone and his wife Joyce of The Villages, FL and Kathy Marrone of Brooklyn, NY; her grandchildren, Alfred Varrone, Jennifer Varrone Sharp and husband Ernie, and Jessica Marrone Sheridan and husband Chris; and two great-grandsons, William and Sean Sheridan. Lois was predeceased by her sister, Marion Sage, and her brother, Lee Colbath.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, July 13th at 11AM at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Kerhonkson. Burial will follow at Pine Bush Cemetery, Kerhonkson.
