Mary M. Quick

October 24, 1912 — March 3, 2010

Mary M. Quick of Accord, NY passed away on Wednesday, March 3, 2010 at Benedictine Hospital. She was 97 years old. Mary was born on October 24, 1912 in Hudson, NY. She was the daughter of Benjamin and Pearl (VanDemark) Lemunyan.


 


On June 30, 1929 Mary had married Chester Quick and together had been lifelong residents of the area. Chester had died in April 1988.


 


Mary was a member of the Kerhonkson VFW Auxiliary. She always gardened and canned when she was able. She was taught to quilt by her grandmother and had been a quilter all her life. Mary always had many quilts going in various stages and would receive odds and ends of material from many people. She had made hundreds of quilts and would hand them down to all her family. She also enjoyed knitting, and crocheting and she loved watching birds.


 


She is survived by her three sons; Chester Quick Jr. and his wife Hazel of Kerhonkson, James Quick of Olivebridge, and Stanley Quick and his wife Leathea of Marlboro. Mary has 13 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, numerous great great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by her sons; Howard and Clarence, and her daughter-in-law, Joyce.


 


Visiting will be held Sunday, March 7th from 2-4 & 7-9pm at H.B. Humiston Funeral Home, Kerhonkson. A Celebration of her life is scheduled for Monday the 8th at 11am at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Pine Bush Cemetery, Kerhonkson.


 


In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Mary’s name to the Kerhonkson-Accord First Aid Squad, PO Box 67, Kerhonkson, NY 12446 and/or to the Samsonville United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 1397, Olivebridge, NY 12461.
