With endless sorrow, we announce the passing of Patricia Salovich of Kerhonkson on December 8th, 2025. She was only 66 years old. Patty or Pat to friends and family, she was born on January 11th, 1959 in Brooklyn, New York to Mary "Mitzi" Detelj and Louis Savery. She grew up in New York City among a large extended family. She left Brooklyn for the Hudson Valley after marriage to her husband Joseph "Joe" Salovich in July 1987, where they lived for nearly four decades together, raising two children. She retired from the clerical circuit of Rondout Valley High School in Accord in 2024 after many years of service to the school district. A lifelong Mets fan, Patty went to several games a year with her husband and was an avid Mets bobblehead collector. She always had a travel bug, from Club Med in the 80s, to family vacations driving all over the East Coast, to cruises around the Caribbean with her husband. The beach was her happy place, and she made sure to go yearly; the pink sand of Bermuda was among her favorites. In her downtime, she enjoyed puzzles and needlepoint and feeding the cat table scraps he wasn't supposed to have. Her scrapbooks are full of her many adventures and she mourned the loss of physical ticket stubs and printed photos. Above all, she loved her kids and family more than anything.
She is survived by her husband of thirty-eight years Joe, her daughter Amy, and her son Tyler, a cacophony of nieces (Robin, Susan, Kerri, Chrissy, Allyson, Jennifer, Kristin, Kate, and Kerrie) and their families, as well as her cat, Caesar. She was predeceased by her mother Mary (d. 2010), her father Louis (d. 1993), her sister MaryAnn (d. 1978), her brother Lewis (d. 2016), and her nephew Stuart (d. 2018). She will be deeply missed by her family and all those who knew her, her absence already heavily felt at this time of year.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name to the local humane society, Ulster County SPCA. https://www.ucspca.org/
