Richard Lee Koral

May 15, 1924 — October 22, 2017

Richard Lee Koral 93, of New York City, died on October 22, 2017.

Born May 15, 1924 to Alexander and Helen Koral, he married Frances Goldberg in 1947. They had two children, Harriet (Niels Vestergaard) and Josh (Marilyn Zoller), and four grandchildren, Alex, Eli, Jacob and Hannah.

Richard was a courageous activist for human rights and a pioneer for clean energy. He was an editor at Industrial Press, then publisher of Building Systems Design. He later founded both the Apartment House Institute at New York Technical College and the Superintendent’s Club of New York.

Richard built a redwood log cabin in Kerhonkson NY. He enjoyed listening to music, making puns, and a good cup of coffee with buttered rye bread.

A loving man, the world and the people he touched are better because of Richard’s selfless generosity.
