Ronald B. Wynkoop

Ronald B. Wynkoop, age 72, peacefully exited this world on Friday, April 21, 2017. Born on October 11, 1944 in Ellenville, NY, he was the son of the late James and Olive (Gray) Wynkoop.
 

A lifelong resident of Ulster County, Ron served as an Ulster County Sheriff and on the Ellenville police force. He worked with the Napanoch Fire Department and was a Past Chief of the Accord Fire District and Life Member of the Rochester Co. #2. Ronnie attended the NY State Academy of Fire Science at Montour Falls and taught classes in Ulster County to his fellow firefighters and in his role as the Fire and Safety Officer at Eastern Correctional Facility. Never willing to sit idle, Ron retired from the Colony Farm and started a successful landscaping and contracting business.
 

He is survived by his beloved wife of 52 years, Barbara Lee, with whom he had five daughters; Lori and Matthew Robbins of Cottekill, NY, Toni Wynkoop of Kingston, NY, Yvonne Wynkoop of Brooklyn and Kingston, NY, Andrew Bailey of Kingston, NY, Olivia and John Yonnetti of Saugerties, NY and Veronica and Adam Schwenk of Hurley, NY. His brothers, Steve and wife Diana, Randall and wife Chrissy and his sister Lana and husband George Montanya. His grandchildren; Jason, Heather, Brett, Christian, Benjamin, Hannah, Nicholas, Violet, Paige, Lillian, Madeline and Collin, and his great grandchildren; Jade, Carly, Bella and Joey.

Family and friends are invited to Humiston Funeral Home, 30 42nd St., Kerhonkson on Wednesday, April 26th from 4-6pm. A celebration of his life will begin at 6pm that evening. Cremation will be private.

The family requests donations may be made in Ron’s memory to the Accord Fire District Rochester Company #2 and/or the Kerhonkson-Accord First Aid Squad or simply show an unexpected and unsolicited act of kindness to some less fortunate soul.
