Ronald Peter Zaccai

Ronald Peter Zaccai, age 72, of Kerhonkson, NY passed away on Saturday, January 6, 2018. Born on December 21, 1945 in Brooklyn, NY, he was the son of Peter and Mary (Taranto) Zaccai.

 

Ron was a veteran of the United States Navy having served during Vietnam on the USS Boston CAG-1. He was honorably discharged in 1968. In recognition of his service he was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal with “60” Device, and the Vietnam Service Medal with one Bronze Star. Ron moved to Oyster Bay in 1981, on December 13, 1997 he married Barbara Taubenberger in Glen Cove, LI and together they moved to Kerhonkson in 1999. He was the owner of Westrich Manufacturing in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, his company had manufactured department store displays from 1972-2002. In addition to his 30 years of hard work Ron also got out into the community through the Elks Lodge and the Rondout Valley Rod and Gun Club. He was also an awesome cook.

 

In addition to his wife Barbara, Ronald is survived by his sister, Adrienne Zaccai of Maine and his niece, Nicole Mitchell of California.

 

A graveside service with military honors will be held at New Paltz Rural Cemetery on Saturday, March 24, 2018 at 11am. Following the graveside service everyone is invited back to the Ellenville Elks Lodge 1971 in Napanoch.

 

In lieu of flower donations are requested to the Fisher House Foundation, 113 Holland Avenue, Albany, NY 12208.
