Rose E. Rider, affectionately known as Dodie, Gerdie, and Rosie, of Accord, NY passed away peacefully on May 29, 2026 at the age of 80. Rose enjoyed playing bingo, traveling, and visiting casinos with family and friends. She was a devoted member of the Accord Ladies Auxiliary for 37 years. Prior to her retirement, Rose worked as a bus driver for First Student, serving the Rondout Valley School District for over 20 years.
Rose is survived by her loving children, Paul Rider (Loretta), Randy Rider (Lana), and Christopher Rider (Krista). She was a cherished grandmother to Bruce, Stephanie (Kim), Arthur (Kelsey), Brooke, Dylan (Kayla), Andrew (Annabelle), Lacey, Tyler, Logan, and Harleigh. She was also the proud great - grandmother of Kampton, Korbyn, Kambree, Stella, and Savannah. In addition, Rose leaves behind several beloved nieces and nephews.
Rose was predeceased by her husband, Alfred "Butch" Rider; her daughter, Cathleen Rider; her stepdaughter, Koralee Turck; her parents, Mitchell and Leona Avery; her siblings, Florence Lennon, Myron Avery, Anne Salmi, Gilbert Avery, William Avery, James Avery, Robert Avery, Virginia Gray, Larry Avery, and Shirley Lyons; and her great-grandson, Grayson Rider.
Family and friends are invited to attend a memorial visitation on Saturday, June 6, 2026 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Humiston Funeral Home, 30 42nd Street, Kerhonkson, NY 12446. Following the service, all are welcome to join the family for a Celebration of Life at the Accord Fire Company, 22 Main Street, Accord, NY 12404.
Rose will be remembered for her love of family, her dedication to her community, and the joy she brought to those who knew her. Her memory will be cherished always.
