Shirley J. Lyons

Shirley J. (Avery) Lyons, age 80, passed away on May 20, 2023. She enjoyed traveling with her family, watching tv, playing bingo and going to church. She also enjoyed her life’s work as a Bus Attendant, Deli Clerk, and housekeeper. She belonged to the Accord Ladies Auxiliary, the Golden Seniors, and The Federated Church of Kerhonkson. In the last few years, Shirley has lived with Patrick and Sue in Western NY and spent time in Oklahoma with Laurie & her family. She became a member of St Mark Lutheran Church in 2022.

Shirley is survived by her children: Sue A. Clark, Patrick D. Lyons, Laurie L. Litzau (Russell), her grandchildren: Christopher M. Litzau (Sarah), Nichole S. Urban (Josh) and Autumn R. Lyons and her great grandchildren: Ethan M. Brueggmann and Ella A. Brueggmann. She is also survived by her sister, Rose Rider, and numerous nieces & nephews.

Shirley was preceded in death by her parents: Mitchell and Leona (Beesimer) Avery; and her brothers and sisters: Florence Lennon, Myron Avery, Anne Salmi, Gilbert Avery, William Avery, James Avery, Robert Avery, Virginia Gray and Larry Avery.

Memorial visitation will be held on May 27, 2023, from 10-12 pm at H.B. Humiston Funeral Home, 30 42nd St, Kerhonkson, NY 12446. The memorial service will be at 11 am.

Graveside Service will be at the Palentown Cemetery, Palentown Rd, Kerhonkson, NY on May 27, 2023, following the memorial service.
