Wasyl Szysz of Kerhonkson, NY died Saturday, January 28, 2012. He was 90. Wasyl was born on March 21, 1921 in Lesiatychi, Ukraine, the son of Nicholas and Ann (Tyzbir) Szysz.

Wasyl had lived in Kerhonkson for over twenty years. He came to America in 1950 and lived in New Jersey where he owned and operated his window cleaning and floor waxing business in Garfield. Wasyl was a member of Holy Trinity Ukrainian Catholic Church in Kerhonkson, the Ukrainian Congress Committee of America, the Organization for Defense of Four Freedoms for Ukraine and SUM.

Wasyl is survived by his wife Olga, his daughter, Mary Panchyshyn of Kerhonkson, and his son-in-law, Adam Platosz of New Britain, CT. His grandchildren; Eva Panchyshyn, Larysa Lutin and her husband Jeremy, Natalie Ruggiero and her husband Jesse, Nicholas Panchyshyn, Michael Platosz and Christine Platosz, and his great-granddaughter, Catarina Lutin. Wasyl was pre-deceased by his daughter, Ann Platosz and his brother and sisters; Myhalo, Rose and Anastasia.

Visiting hours will be Monday, January 30th from 5-7pm at HB Humiston Funeral Home, Kerhonkson. The Panakhyda will begin at 6pm that evening. The Holy Sacrifice of the Divine Liturgy will be Tuesday, January 31st 10am at Holy Trinity Ukrainian Catholic Church, Kerhonkson. Burial will follow at Holy Spirit Ukrainian Catholic Cemetery, Hamptonburgh.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in Wasyl's name to Holy Trinity Ukrainian Catholic Church, 211 Foordemore Road, Kerhonkson, NY 12446.
