Rev. Margaret Snyder

July 3, 1946 ~ January 4, 2021 (age 74)


The Reverend Margaret E. Snyder, 74, from South Abington Township, PA, passed away at her daughter’s home in Accord, NY on January 4th, 2021.  Born in Scranton, PA, she was the daughter of the late Elmer and Margaret Gatti. 

In her youth, Margaret pursued a bachelor’s degree in Art from Marywood College. Margaret worked as a graphic artist before a career in the banking industry.  Heeding the call to be a servant to God, Margaret obtained a Master’s of Divinity degree From Drew University, Madison, NJ. She was ordained as a United Methodist Minister in 1996. Prior to and after ordination, she served various United Methodist Churches in the Susquehanna Conference of the United Methodist Church.  After retirement from Shavertown UMC in Shavertown, PA, she continued her devotion to serve God by becoming an active member of the Countryside Community United Methodist Church in Clark’s Summit, PA.  Throughout her career she became a mentor to many people.  She loved working with children, preaching and speaking, Bible Study and serving on various committees in her home church.  Margaret loved to sing, was an avid reader, a cherished mother, sister, grandmother, aunt, colleague and friend.  She always had a smile to warm your heart, a shoulder for you to lean on and an ear to listen.

Preceding her in death, in addition to her parents, was her husband, Reverend Thomas J. Snyder.  Surviving are her daughter, Marsley Holderman and husband Randall; grandchildren, Kayla Shea Holderman, Sabrina Hoover and husband, Thomas; great-grandchildren, Riley, Remmi, Raina, T.J and Lexi; sister, Leslie Drouse and husband Edward; niece, Dayna Capwell and husband Barry; nephew Jason Drouse and wife Margaret; great-nieces, Jordan and Evelynn and great-nephew, Nathan. 

A memorial service at Countryside Community Church will be planned in the future.
